The exhibition presented 24 mostly new, small to mid-scale portraits and abstract paintings.
The artist André Willimann is a very accurate observer with a keen sense. His paintings are executed
with a brilliant technique and are emotionally real and genuine. They are images of a deep, gentle
beauty.
Born in 1980 in Zurich, André Willimann completed the Master of Fine Arts at the Zurich University of
the Arts (ZHdK) in 2014. His works include various forms of paintings, which are thematically oriented to
the European art history and American popular culture. He lives and works in Zurich.

Artist Comments:
The abstract paintings are an attempt to balance the 3 dimensional effect usually created by landscape
paintings and typical abstract paintings depicting a surface. The shapes and colors evoke a precisely
presented space even though it’s all fuzzy. They are painted emotionally.
The portraits are entities.The word entity denotes something being. Personifying real people on one
hand they represent conditions, situations and identities. They therefore address ideology and culture.
